Looking to unwind after a busy summer photo season? Just a short drive from NYC, Philly, and surrounding areas, come join us for a laid-back retreat focused on recharging, connecting with like-minded creatives, and making art.
It’s a retreat with a splash of workshop
We're all about sharing techniques - learn how we do what we do, so you can apply those skills to your own artistic journey & projects. Throughout the retreat we’ll be offering shooting demos, film dev demos, print making demos, + time with models to work on your own ideas/concepts. Demos will include: polaroid transfers, digital negatives + cyanotypes, b&w film development. Michael & Alexx will both be bringing their film camera collections for guests to try & experiment with.
Learn new skills + dedicated time to create
Our models will be around most of the time, giving you plenty of opportunities to create and capture amazing shots. With acres of land and a pond, there’s loads of space and privacy to explore and get inspired.

Your Hosts
Alexx Duvall is a photographer & printmaker specializing in process-driven darkroom practices. Often using movement as a tool to convey tension, loneliness, and interdependence, she is known for her slow shutter shots that freeze an elongated moment and her focus on naturally occurring precise and geometric shapes. As a teacher, she believes in sharing frameworks and techniques as tools that students can incorporate into their own individual style.​​
Michael Ash Smith is a photographer using unique analog cameras and films to express internal emotion and vision. Using experimentation and trial and error, he honed his craft in Philadelphia before moving to Boulder where he further explored the fine art side of photography. Inspired primarily by music, poetry, and philosophy, he creates a visually ethereal and immersive world in his photographs offering viewers a glimpse into his thoughts and feelings.​
The Location
Nestled on a private road in Woodstock, NY, this serene retreat space is surrounded by lush landscapes and a tranquil pond. The spacious living room features a large picture window offering stunning views of the private pond. Enjoy the sunlit lounge for quiet moments of inspiration. Outdoors, gather around the fire pit, relax on the pondfront deck, or utilize the pondside covered entertaining area with comfortable seating and wood storage. This setting provides a perfect backdrop creativity.
